2005 FIRST Competition

We did some electronics and drivetrain work, and did our first driving test! The robot is upside down so it doesn't take off, trailing wires and the board and battery...

We worked on layout and mounting options for the second electronics board with the battery and compressor.

We have awesome CAD drawings and a great OpenGL app to model the arm. The arm team developed a task list for actually building a physical one!

We tested turning situations and potential problems with friction for our 6-wheel drivetrain. It passed with flying colors!

The electroncis team marked and drilled for remaining components, built some more cables, and worked on mounting brackets for attaching board(s) to the chassis.

The software team correlated joystick controls with OI inputs and experimented with potentiometers for reading arm position and OI settings.

Both teams worked on troubleshooting Victor weirdness, which we decided was just weirdness with the LED, nothing wrong with the Victor.

The software team tested new/better potentiometers, got code working to do averaging for analog inputs, talked about arm kinematics, did some math, and learned about the FIRST-supplied PID algorithm.

We worked on the layout of battery/compressor board, and created plans for mounting brackets. We made some updates in CAD, and printed dimensioned plans for various arm parts. Mentors with the appropriate tools will cut and drill parts based on all those plans.

We worked on the layout of the OI controls, started wiring the current sensors, and started adding cable ties to the electronics board. We also reviewed some electronics concepts (current, resistance, soldering).
