2005 FIRST Competition

Build Period: Week 1 - Week 2 - Week 3 - Week 4 - Week 5 - Week 6
PNW Regional: Wednesday - Thursday - Friday - Saturday

First arm construction! We de-burred and installed parts for the shoulder and the brackets for the electronics boards. We created more dimensioned plans for part cutting/drilling.

A summary of our current status:

• Drive and Base - six-wheel drive built, ready to roll
• Electronics - essentials wired, ready for install
• Pneumatics - mostly designed, not expected to be critical path
• Arm - modeled in LEGO, designed to death, fully drawn in CAD, modeled with physics in OpenGL, raw materials on hand (until the next change), part fabrication in progress
• Software - some thoughts on design, some simple stuff started, lots left
• OI - designed, ready for fabrication and assembly
• T-Shirts - designed, member orders taken, ready to place order
• Buttons - good idea for artwork
• Travel Arrangements - ready to go
• Sleep - in 2.5 weeks

More work on mounting the battery and air compressor, lower arm beams joined together, current sensors mounted on electronics board, more CAD updates, this time for the "poker" at the end of the arm.

The electronics team worked on the OI controls. The software team looked at using PID to control the arm motors.

The software team tested the current sensors and did some other cool stuff.

Review of arm design for arm team; work on mounting the battery and compressor board.

More wiring for the OI, mounting and wiring for final Victor.
